Will the Major League Baseball Triples Record ever be broken?

If yes who do you think could break it currently?

Who’s more obscure, Earl Webb or Owen Wilson? That’s a tossup. Wilson hit 36 triples for the Pirates in 1912, yet never had more than 14 in any other season. He was a decent OF who had the epitome of a fluke season. Nobody has ever gotten remotely close to this record, either. Three players reached 26 triples, including Shoeless Joe Jackson in that same 1912 season. In the last quarter-century, only four players have hit 20 triples during a season, though Carl Crawford (19 in 2004) could join the club soon. Today’s smaller, natural grass parks aren’t triple-friendly, so this record could stand forever.

I agree with that assessment . The way the outfields are configurated , the speed of the ballplayers it is not really conducive to triples but more to doubles and home runs. Usually it takes an opposite field hit or a slip or blunder that is not an error to make a triple . If the player does not get a home run it usually leads only to a double because of how the defenses are situated and speed and arms of the outfielders, as conducive to the park they play in.

The only current player I see having any chance would be Carl Crawford. He has good power and very good speed. The problem is that he plays in a modern park with smaller outfields than back when Wilson hit his record for triples.

Earl Webbs record for doubles (67) is much more achievable now; expecially if playing in Fenway Park. It would still be a tremendous feat.

Ether Grady Sizemore for the Indians, or Crawford.

someone really fast that has decent power needs to play in san francisco. they have what we call triples alley, so maybe if crawford played in SF, then maybe he could do it or at least come close.
