What are some fun things to do in San Diego?
My fiance and I plan on visiting San Diego in September. He wants to visit the San Diego Zoo. Is there anything else fun to do there? We are from Phoenix, AZ.

As you point out there is the world famous zoo but there is also many other things to do. There is some great beaches to spend the day at, try the one in front of the Hotel Del Coronado it's huge and usually not too crowded.
There is Sea World, many fine and unique museums, Old Town (great Mexican food and sights), the Gas Lamp District (fine dining and night life), rent a sail or power boat and tour the bay, Reuben H Fleet Science Center, La Jolla, tour an aircraft carrier, catch a Padre game, visit the casino, wine tasting, or bet the ponies at Del Mar (if they are running).
Of course there are the many outdoor activities, many of which you can do at home like: hot air balloons, sky diving, bi-plane/war bird rides, hiking, etc.
San Diego is one of the best vacation spots in America and the weather if the finest in the nation.

If you're staying downtown, take the ferry over to Coronado and rent bikes to ride around the island (well, sort of an island). You'll see great views of the bay, ocean, and bridge, and while you're there, stop by the famous Hotel Del and check out the grounds.
Visit La Jolla. The La Jolla Cove area has some of the most scenic coastline in the area, you can walk down to see the seals at Children's Pool, watch the ocean for dolphins and whales, and then head up to the village and have lunch at one of the many great restaurants. You can also try the Torrey Pines Gliderport for a picnic while watching the hangliders and paragliders do their thing or hike the Torrey Pines Reserve.
Balboa Park is kind of the standard San Diego touristy place, but it really is a nice place to spend an afternoon. There are tons of museums, botanical gardens, great architecture, the Old Globe Theatre Complex, and plenty of lawns to relax on and eat.
You could also spend a day at the zoo (also in Balboa Park), have a sunset drink at the top of the Hyatt and get the best views in town (go early to get a good table), go to Sea World, take a sunset sail, or any of the other great things to do in San Diego.

There are lots of passions to follow in San Diego and that hotelbye is the place to begin discovers what San Diego has to offer. In the San Diego holiday you will step external of your comfort zone and you will discover new activities while you are here and you could only see that acquiring a new pursuit can be an experience in itself. Among the areas must see from San Diego is Balboa Park. That park has over a 1400 acre and here you will find historical houses, numerous museums, gardens, and green space. The park was made for the Panama California Exhibition of 1915-1916. The commonplace structure is Spanish-Mexican model, minimal stage houses that merge with the natural surroundings. One of the shows of the park are the Botanical Gardens and lily pond, the Museum of Man, the Museum of Natural History, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the famous San Diego Zoo. Even although you never enter a building the park is merely an attractive place.

Balboa Park is huge. Definitely get a map otherwise you'll leave and not realize you've only seen 1/2 of it. Don't miss the gardens, Space theater, museums, etc., etc.
If there's any way possible, get a Thursday edition of the San Diego Union Tribune Newspaper. It has a pull-out section of all the things that are going on in San Diego.
And of course a young couple have to hang out in the Gas Lamp district of downtown for dining, etc.
Sea World is highly over-rated IMHO. Wait until you have kids.
