Training dogs that show dominance...?

I know that dogs show dominance by humping each other...I have a 3 month old Chihuahua and a 5 year old Chihuahua. My 5 year old has always been the dominant one when I was living at home with my parents. Now I am moved out, and I had gotten a new puppy(the 3 month old). Now it seems that my 5 year old isn't the dominant one anymore...My puppy is. The puppy is showing dominance by humping my 5 year old. My puppy isn't neutered yet, but my 5 year old is. I AM planning on neutering the puppy. And I do know that it has nothing to do with the puppy not being neutered. There isn't any aggressive issues between the two..They play non stop all day with each other...Should I let him do it so that they can determine where they stand in the pecking order, or do I get them to stop since it is somewhat undesirable behavior?

Your 3 month old Chi hasn't hit adolesence yet, this means that your older dog will let him have what's known as "puppy lisence". In short, your older dog is going to let the puppy be as obnoxious as it wants for a little while.

When your young guy is about 4-5 months old he will become an adolescent. At this point, your older dog will start correcting really obnoxious behavior (like the humping). If your older dog has been well socialized he will teach the puppy what is and isn't appropriate much more effectively than you.

Dominance isn't a helpful way to think of this. It actually has very little to do with dominance in your case, and dominance is an extremely flawed theory to begin with. Your dogs will each be dominant in different interactions, but there is no such thing as dominance as a personality trait in 90% of domestic dogs. Your dogs will work out who is dominant in food interactions, who is dominant in attention interactions, who is dominant in picking bedding to sleep on, etc, but chances are neither of them will ever be dominant.

Let your puppy be a puppy for another couple of months, and if it doesn't stop by the time he is 6 months old and you find it undesirable then you can stop it. Just don't worry too much about it for now.

You earnings admire via being a smart chief. To get her to hearken to you, Get a hand complete of her maximum well known take care of and say her call. while she seems at your face (no longer soliciting for eye touch. canines view eye touch as aggresive/ dominant. Asking her to try this will confuse her) supply her a take care of. It must be timed completely. shop doing this till she will have the skill to give up what she is doing and seem at you once you say her call. this would take one 15 min. consultation or 3 days..basically shop at it. shop the educational short and do them plenty 2-three times an afternoon is acceptable. I propose you sign up her in some uncomplicated obedience training. those will additionally teach you guidance on the thank you to earn her admire.
