NBA Basketball Players and arm wraps?

This season I've noticed some players like Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony are wearing a tight sleeve over just one arm. I questioned that when I first saw it and someone thought maybe they had a fresh tat that they were covering, but now I'm seeing more of them and Iverson is still wearing one. Anyone know why they wear those sleeves???? Thanks, it's really picking at my brain!

I play basketball alot and belive me wraps do help, I have two of them, one black the other white. They keep my arm relaxed and warm. I have an odd shooting form so I wear it on my left arm even tough I'm right handed. I still need to get myself one of those finger straps. Summer is the most glorious time for ballin it up at the cage. Peace

I just have to reiterate what was already said. The NBA is the premeire professional basketball league in the world. The best of the best play in it. At max, the entire league can only employ 450 players. (15 men per team) So to make the cut you have to be exceptionally good. Streetball players learn from the streets, which has very little basketball edicate. Their main objective is to show off. They don't learn to play team ball, such as setting screens and running plays, and most of it is just one on one. Finally, the demands on the physical well being of a professional athlete far exceed any that the average person places upon himself. I've walked onto streetcourts and seen guys smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or consume some unwholesome foods and walk on the basketball court. In the NBA, you have to be in tip top shape, which means proper nutriton and exercise, aside from playing basketball. (Odom doesn't eat candy all day) So I'll admit steetball players are good players. But to be NBA players, it requires more. *Rafer went to college

Iverson has worn the arm sleeve for the better part of a decade

sleeve on his right arm probably to keep his shooting arm warm because he has to shoot so much and because of injuries

that was the reason for the leggings that Stern banned, they kept the blood flowing and the legs loose

Iverson also wears:
WWJD bands
finger bands (those things are great I have 2 of them)
headbands
sweatbands
sleeve on right arm
and sometimes leggings as well but not since the ban

I play basketball and quite often. They go thru a lot of games and so they get quite sore and beat up. The arm wraps keeps the arm warm, and keeps the arm tight so it's less likely to pull or strain a muscle

I think they got the whole idea from Iverson because they look like ballers .... but at the sports shop they told me its for better ball shoooting and better arm bending
