Looking to buy an external hard drive (around 70 - 80GB)?

I need to get a external hard drive because my kids have been installing alot of games on my computer and it is taking up all of my meesly 37GB internal hard drive. Can they run their games from the external one or should I just use that to back up my stuff and run it from there.
Also, which one is the best? I need one with a USB port cable. I have never used one before, so the more info you can give me the better.
Thanks!

First, 70-80 GB is too small these days. The prices of hard drives have come down so you might as well go for 200 or 300 GB. You might say you don't need that large of a drive right now but think about how many times in the past you said that.
Secondly, make sure the external hard drive has USB-2 port which is faster. Most of them like Maxtor do anyway but also your computer USB ports should be USB-2 if you want to take advantage of the speed.
You can run games on them but beware that external hard drives are much slower than internal ones so it might affect the games. External hard drives are mostly used for backing up files not to run apps from.
Hope this helps.

yes they can run their games from an external hard drive, you need to install it there, too. prices have come down a bit now for these usb hard drives, get the bigger hd if you can.
better yet, get them their own pc:)
