my car is a 1998 pontiac grand prix gt. 3.8l V6. im traveling 655 mi there and 655 mi back home. i figured out i get approx. 27 highway mpg. estimating that gas is about $$2.99 a gallon how much will money should i take??

Around $146, if you're stuck in traffic, probably more.

To be on the save side $180 - $200. thats just for the trip there and back. How driving are going to do when you get there? Will use more gas local driving. So to be really safe id say $300. That covers oil also.

You are going to need aprox. $150 for the complete round trip. That is assuming that gas does not go over $3 a gallon.

The obvious arithmetic gives $145. But gasoline has become more expensive ($3 a gallon won't do it), so take $200.
