I am a massage therapist and body work specialist. We do "Seaweed wraps" What it does it you want to exfoliate the skin ...apply the seaweed paste and then wrap the area in a plastic thin disposable body covering....i suppose she could use seran wrap if she can't find the profession stuff. The way you lose inches is that the seaweed mixture penetrated the skin and by being wrapped in plastic...it causes you to sweat quite a bit. (I use a heat lamp on my clients also to enhance the sweating) They lose inches because of the water that is being expelled from the body. Just make sure that she knows exactly what to do...so she doesn't waste the product. But it can be done yes....(not significant fat loss...but water weight)
The spas paint it on you and call it a body wrap then further claims that it draws out toxins in the skin (so theoretically yes, you can lose weight from it that way). Now if you're talking about eating it, I would have to say yes only if it was part of a major change it diet. Eating seaweed alone will not make you shrink (unless that is all you eat), but it will do wonders for your hair and nails! Put it this way - it's the same as if you started eating carrots all the time. It needs to be part of a bigger plan. Common sense should tell you that it is not a "natural magic pill." If it was there'd be a lot more thinner people roaming the world!
