If I use Data -> Filer -> Auto Filter in Excel and choose the criteria, what formula will sum/total?

So what can I use to total at the bottom? I don't want SUM as that ignores the fact I have chosen to filter the list.

Thank-you for your time & I will vote for ten points for the best answer.

not sure. AFTER you've filtered the data, using the Σ icon will give you =subtotal() and only the filtered cells will add up.
you need to check to see what happens if you unfilter or change the filter criteria to make sure its robust to those things.
