Whats going on with my Silver Dollar Fish?

I have a pair of Silver Dollar Fish. They are eating each others fins. Theres like big chunks taken out of their fins. Are they suppose to be together? Are they suppose to be doing that? Should I seperate them? They don't eat other fish fins just each other. Is this a sign of a vitamin deficiancy or something? What should I do?

You don't say how large they are, the most imported into the U.K. are Metynnis Argenteus and M.Hypsauchen. They're both very active fish and best kept in shoals of 6 fish or more, the reason behind this is they're very aggressive eaters and often chase each other taking chunks out of each other in an attempt to get the other fish to drop the food. Given you've only two it don't share the biting out much.

If you haven't seen them do it it may not be them. Finrot does not always mean that blood will be on the fins - sometimes it just eats away at the fins - it happened to a few of my fish. Is it possible they are catching them on something and damaging them?
