Recommendations for Laptop Purchase?

I'm looking to buy a laptop this summer, particularly for gaming. Any recommendations? I'm trying to steer clear of the Dells (We've had WAY too many issues with them, they're overpriced for the same system...) and definitely willing to try out, and pay for, a dual core processor. I would say my budget is up to about $2000.

I bought an HP Pavillion about eight months ago, and it's a really sweet machine. It's well-engineered, works flawlessly, and looks great. For less than $2000 you can get a really cheeried out Intel Core2 Duo 2.2Ghz. The only negative is that it came loaded with a bunch of software I didn't really want and I had to spend some time deleting much of it. Still, it's by far the best laptop I've ever owned.

Whatever brand you buy, Intel's Core 2 Duo is the way to go right now in terms of the processor.

Ok, matey. It depends on a couple of things. I will give you an insight into the one I have. Before I start to ramble on, I live in Ireland and I have a good friend who lives in your beautiful country. Back to the point. My laptop is well as I am told "too advanced for my requirements" so know what you want before you buy. Secondly and again only my opinion, you get what you pay for, if you are willing to give up on some of the more expenses and luxuries of a laptop then your budget may stretch a little further. If Iam not mistaken "dual core" is what we call "core duo" and to be honest, I have no idea the difference it makes. Try looking at an indepentant magazine like Which, as the stores will try and sell you the most expensive. Have aa good one my friend.

For the money you are willing to spend go with alienware, that's what its built for. I have a Toshiba unimpressed, i like my Dell better. lol I know you hate Dell, but for the money i spent i love it, the way it boots, moves dual core. 2gigs. it's $650.
I have a Acer also, great graphics and screen, dual AMD, ATI, only $700. It supposedly is great for gaming, i just didnt love the way it moves, boots etc. So alienware is supposedly the best. Dell, Acer, Toshiba, of what i am using now.
Ever consider a apple, you have the money to get one.

Alot of memory is important. Dual Core(i love intel so much more than AMD)Good Luck with whatever you get. alienware or apple

Absolutely. Dell machines are nice but I too have had many issues with them. Visit my eBay store at http://stores.ebay.com/northbridgemachines and look for the ASUS G1S and G2S. They are the latest gaming laptops from ASUS who is a leader in motherboard and video card manufacturing. Also, they have a great support plan for their laptops. 2 year warranty, 24/7 support, free 2-way shipping should you need it, software support, 30 day return policy for any dead pixels on LCD screen.

I can better assist you in purchasing a gaming laptop if you are interested.
