Somebody said that "Christianity doesn't work. Look at the Philippines, the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer" someone replied "Who said Christianity doesn't work, it hasn't even been tried yet" Do you agree?

Yes, I agree. If people would only follow Christ's teachings every day in their lives, things would be different. John 13:35 - "By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.” Where do you see love among anyone, even those who profess to be Christians?
Christians do exist in the Philippines, but their numbers are a bit slim, I believe. I don't have the stats... hang on... OOH I am so wrong. Here is info from good ole' wiki: Christianity arrived in the Philippines with the landing of Ferdinand Magellan in 1521. In the late 16th century, soldiers and missionaries firmly planted the seeds of conversion when they officially claimed the archipelago for Spain and named it after their king. Missionary activity during the country's long colonial rule by Spain and the United States transformed the Philippines into one of the two (perhaps three, considering South Korea's growing Christian population) predominantly Christian nations in East Asia, with approximately 90% of the population belonging to the Christian faith, the other Christian nation being East Timor. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, with 83% of the population belonging to this faith in the Philippines.
I agree that there are religions who claim to be Christian that are far away and they make the true Christian hard to find. So many people look at the major denominations and say that is christianity, but Christianity is found in the truth of scripture. Taking the whole bible, seeing what God is trying to show us through them, then living them with all our might. This is true Christainity. It has to do with loving God first. Then each individual loving who they are as a person and then loving those around us just as much. If more people understood that many people living in those major denominations are not living these truths, they would see these people are not real Christians. If I were to ask you to run naked in the streets and jump and climb every tree you pass I would be trying to define who you are. Yet, you are you and you are who you are and maybe you don't like getting scratched by tree bark. That is who you are. Well, scripture is God's way of defining himself and who are we to say God you have to be that guy who runs naked in the streets and climbs trees. That is not who he is. He defines himself as Holy and loving and powerful and the creator of all things. Who are we to define him?
If we look at one another in determining whether Christianity works, the quote could possibly hold true (Roman 3:23) BUT if we look at Jesus, then Christianity becomes not the end but the process that followers will go through to become more and more like Him. (Luke 9:23)
I will go you one better. Religion doesn't work. Period. Look at all of the wars currently happening in our world. They are largly about one group of people believing their view of the holy is the only right view of the holy. Until we, as human beings, stop allowing how we worship and what we worship to feel superior over others, then the world will continue to destroy itself.
I don't care what FAITh someone has - as long as he or she respects the fact that what I believe is just as important and right for me as your faith is to you. Christians complain alot about being "hated." One reason Christians are not so well liked is because they have ruined the lives of millions with missionaries. I know that will get alot of disagreement - but it is the truth as I see it.
