What are some books/authors similar to Timeline or Prey by Crichton?

I like these sci-fi techno thrillers that take current technology or ideas and extrapolate a story about what could happen in the future...Crichton seems to be the master at this, but I've already read all of his.

Any suggestions?

Try some of the other Crichton books--Andromeda Strain, Sphere.

Zig Zag by Spanish writer Jose Carlos Somoza deals with physics, the nature of time, and a serial killer.

Mindstar by Peter Hamilton is more on the macho side.

Organ Grinders by Bill Fitzhugh is a humorous techno-thriller.

Connie Willis's books are not so techno, but deal with time travel, and are very well written: To Say Nothing of the Dog and Doomsday Book.

Canticle for Liebowitz is more in the dystopia/sci fi realm

Cobra Event by Richard Preston
This is the Way the World Ends by James Morrow
Kim Stanley Robinson books
Children of Men by P.D. James
Solstice by David Hewson
Plague Tales by Ann Benson
Aftermath by Levar Burton

You could try Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. He's famous for writing spy novels, but this book is somewhat similar to Timeline. If you haven't already read the "Red Mars", "Blue Mars", "Green Mars" series by Kim Stanley Robinson, you'll love it! (about terraforming and lots else - space elevators). The classic first book about space elevators, as far as I know is "Fountains of Paradise" by Arthur C. Clarke. (Was "Fantastic Voyage" the original nano book?)
One more recommendation - "Cities in Flight" by James Blish. It's not current technology yet.

Enjoy!
