I get Temporary loss of side vision for the last few months. Why?

In the last three months for at least four times, my side vision was affected and nothing was visible in the side while the straight/front vision was normal. After some rest, the side vision regained to normal but severe headache lasted for at least half an hour after regaining vision. When i visited doctor, she said, my optic nerve was normal. my doubt was if it is glaucoma, whether the side vision would be temporarily affected and regained in few minutes??

Any issues with vision loss can be pretty serious. When you saw your doctor did they do a complete eye exam after dilating your eyes? If it was just a quick 5-second peek with a handheld-scope in the office then I would suggest seeing someone else (i.e., an ophthalmologist) for a more thorough exam. There are numerous problems in the eye and the brain that could lead to vision loss and if your eye exam is normal, then imaging studies of your brain are probably warranted.

You can do a few exercises (blinking, rotating your eyes, looking at lite then dark etc) but I think it all comes down to a variety of environments you expose yourself to. One thing for sure, looking at this computer and/or TV for several hours a day can't be great for vision health either. In the 15 years or so I've been wearing glasses, I have found that my vision has not gotten much worse but then I think it's just a matter of the rest of this body we live in. It craps out like every thing else. Just life.

you need to get an MRI and make sure your not having mini strokes!!

my husband had the same thing happen to him last yr and ignore the problem. and on November 12th 2006 he had a stroke and told him that he had 3 mini strokes leading up to the big one.

go get checked A.S.A.P. please

strokes are no joke and only takes seconds to ruin your life.

stroke is a medical emergency. Know these warning signs of stroke and teach them to others. Every second counts:

* Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
* Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
* Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
* Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
* Sudden, severe headache with no known cause

Call 9-1-1 immediately if you experience symptoms!
Time lost is brain lost!

Both answers are possibly right you should go for further evaluation, you could also be having TIA or mini strokes, just because you go to one Dr. doesn't mean that Dr. is always right thats why they call it a practice.

Sounds like maybe migraines or something. DO not let this go unchecked. See an opthomologist and a neurologist to get to the bottom of this.
