There are some standard clinical way to face these problems.
1. Try to find the root of your prob em. There must be a root why you are feeling worthless, helpless and bored. Try to solve or manage your problem at root. It is not always easy to solve the problem at root but if you can identify it , you can make a plan to solve it or even talk to others or doctor. You can also visit a psychotherapist for help.
2. to avoid boring life, do something that attracts you. Go to movie, start playing a game, or gardening. if you have space in home, start gardening. keeping touch with soil heals boredom very easily. you can also read some books that attracts you.
3. Throw a challenge to you to do something for instance making a half an hour run, read a book at a stretch, cook a new food etc.
3. Do exercise regularly, at least walk for a long time. Exercise balances your hormonal secretion and makes your nerves healthy.
It also contributes your well being and to fight boredom and depression.
4. The most important part is your willingness to overcome it. if you really want it, you can do it easily.

It might be but It may just mean that you have a need to help others. You might try finding a program that helps the needy. Some of the larger churchs have programs or call your local government. I would try this first. The doctor will most likely put you on medication. It helps most people, some it doesn't.
I found it replaced a bad feeling with an odd feeling. Also, there are side effects to medications. I ended up with a "rare" side effect. Ask the doctor alot of questions and do research on any medications they give you. Going back to school helped me. You can beat this. Good luck.

Technically, yeah..

For me, feeling like I'm depressed makes me feel depressed. I know you're bored and can't think of anything to do. Just try writing ideas down so you can remember them later and have somethign to do. Remind yourself that this really is your only life. Make yourself do something. Go for a walk. Turn off your computer. Call me. Keep busy.
