This is a sound off to anyone who is playing urban dead. I just started playing the game yesterday and I am already addicted (thanks to a feature by yahoo.) If you have any tips, they would be appreciated, or would like to group with a newbie ( I am in the suburb of Tapton)

Tips for survivors
First of all, read the FAQ if you haven't done so already. It covers a lot of basic information.
For new players:
1. Search for a "safehouse", a building that has been barricaded, but that you can still enter. You can enter buildings that have been barricaded to the "loosely", "lightly" or "strongly" levels, but not the "heavily" level. If you find yourself in an unfamiliar area, make sure you have at least 10 APs so that you can find an enterable building.
2. Get the Freerunning skill! This is perhaps the most important skill for a survivor, as it allows you to "jump" from building to building without having to go into the street. This will give you access to buildings that have been barricaded to the "heavily" level.
3. Healing people gives you experience! For a new player, this is extremely useful! Get to the hospitals and search for first aid kits! Also, the diagnosis skill will help you figure out who needs healing so you don't waste your ap.
4. Weapon skills- Increase you axe abilities first, as you can get a decent hit rating and will never run out off ammo.
5. When you die, cause you will, try playing a zombie for a bit! There are a lot of new players right now, many of whom don't know how to get into buildings. That means "zombie food"! It can be very satisfying to munch a stranded survivor. When you're sick of being a zombie, look for grafitti that mentions "revives". Revive points are places where zombies can hang out and eventually get returned to life by good hearted survivors. Most cemeteries are revive points.
6. Check out the urban dead wiki at www.wiki.urbandead.com. It has a lot of useful information. In particular, many groups have wiki pages that tell you how to contact them. Like most games, urban dead is more fun when you have team-mates to strategize with.
Its all about the strategy. Check the wiki for rules and suggestions.
Yes, it takes a long time to build a character. Even topped out there's only a 60% chance of hitting something.
You can't enter a bldg barricaded more than Very Strongly so find one and headquarter there (a police dept. if your lucky) until you get your xp high enough to get free running. Then you can jump from bldg to bldg and get in the malls - etc.
Search for guns, faks, ammo etc. percentages are low but persistance is the key in this game.
Read the wiki, and also read the wiki. And if you havn't yet, read the wiki.
I can't figure it out. You spend your 50 moves in about 3 minutes. How do you increase your experience? I stand there and swing at zombies with my axe (fireman) missing the entire time, then i have to break down a barrier to try to enter a building.
I found that i can go into a fire department which has a barrier, but I still can't build my experience points faster than 3 a day. "swing at a zombie and miss, swing at a zombie and miss, etc etc." does not increase experience.
At this rate, it will take me a month to get enough points to increase any skills. So what is the facination? I'm trying to give this game a chance, but I can't figure out what the hell people see in playing a game for 3 mins every night, getting you nowhere.
My one tip would be to stick with one character, if you keep changing or trying to build many characters at one time you'll never get anywhere. Also, stay away from PKing until your maxed out in most of the human skills. If you're not in a group, I would suggest joining one of the larger ones, since they're the most active and will help you earn XP and give you revives quickly. If you're enjoying Urban Dead, I would also like to reccomend Hell Rising (www.hellrising.com) it's similar to UD, but has fast AP regens and other differences.
