Why doesnt my ps3 work on my tv or the others?

im having a big problem... my brother brought his ps3 here and it doesnt seem to work on my tv and im using the a/v cables. in his house it works cause he uses the hd cable for his hdtv but i dont own an hdtv i own a regular one which is flat screen thats all im wondering if somebody can help me!!!!!

Are you using the Red White and Yellow Cables, because the Red Green and Blue cables will not work in a Standard TV Set

You probably have the output on the PS3 still set for Component output (red, green, blue cables) rather than Composite (red, white yellow).
