A player for Ohio State named Archie Griffin won 2 Heisman trophies back in the 70s and as far as I know I've never heard of him playing for an NFL team.

Yes. As the first respondent says, Charlie Ward never got drafted by any NFL team despite winning the Heisman, so off he went to the NBA and New York Knicks.

It just might be the case that a player is outstanding in college, but doesn't have the measurables required by pro teams, whether it be the NFL, CFL, Arena etc.

The first ever person to win the Heisman decided to not go pro. Jay Berwanger won the first Heisman in 1935 and was drated first overall by the Eagles in the NFL's first Collegiate Draft, but chose to not go pro and never played in the NFL.

Gino Toretta played for the Vikings... I remember having his RC card when I was a kid....

I think all the Heismans tried out (except maybe Ward), but some were cut after the draft, like Crouch and White
