Top 35 question?

With the 13 team more than likely not making it to Indianapolis, I was wondering what would happen with qualifying and the Top 35 Rule, if the 36th place team in points automatically qualifies for the race, or its just one extra car now can try to race its way in until the 13 falls out of the Top 35?

I was not asking who would buy the 13's owner points, what I am asking is what would happen in qualifying, if instead of 8 spots being open, 9 spots would be open, or if the 36th place team in owner points would automatically make the show in place of one of the Top 35 cars not making it.

haggismoffat is correct, here's how they explain it at jayski:

the highest-ranked 35 positions of the NNCS OWNER [not Driver] championship points that have entered the event prior to the entry deadline

So it IS based on the top 35 in owner's points that ENTERED the race by the required deadline.

I've heard in rumors and news that DEI (Dale Earnhardt Incorporated) is planning to buy Ginn Racing and give them DEI engines. So, what I'm trying to say is that teams like DEI are only allowed to have 4 teams, so we might see the #13 and #14 cut. If the #13 stays, however, DEI would have the points, most likely.

And also, on the Top 35 question, NASCAR will not do anything, probably, but if they do, the 36th place team will be automatically entered, most likely.

the top 35 in car owner points at the track get the spots. so if the 13 is not there then the 36th place team gets it.

PS This is a stupid rule

No the 36 place car would not get into the field. The 13 car would have to fall out of the top 35 before another car could get in. Till then 34 cars would get in with 1 more car outside of the top 35 would get in.
