what's a good way to seal a deep cut?

Besides getting stitches. Is there any over the counter product that would seal a deep but narrow cut? Like a slice from a kitchen knife sort of cut. Nothing life-threatening just a deep cut.

A person who has himself for a doctor has an idiot for a patient.
If it is bad enough to ask this question, it is time to see a doctor.
But they sometimes use super-glue, not that I recommend it to a novice.

This is my help from Washington, D.C. USA.

If it bled enough to wash itself out well, you could put a "butterfly" on it. If you can find some tape that won't stretch, cut a piece long enough to stick well on both sides of the cut, and double it with sticky side out.

Cut an angle off the top and bottom of the fold (so there's a V on top and bottom when it's opened) leaving a narrow connection in the middle. Put this narrowest part over the cut so the air can get to it to heal, and keep it clean.

Kids jumping on the bed and getting cuts had stitches that left scars, where the butterfly would not leave a scar.

I highly recommend Neosporin, a topical ointment used for aiding in the healing process of cuts, scrapes and abrasions. I cut my knee open on a clamshell when i was 8 and some friends of dad's and he put hydrogen poroxide on it. Yes, that made it hurt worse, but it stopped the bleeding and healed within a month. They put 2 bandaids in the shape of + sign on the cut afterwards and didn't bother me after that, just looked gross for awhile. I shoud have probably had stiches looking back, but that was a way to get out of it.

If neither works, try Bag Balm. It's sold in most grocery stores over the counter and comes in a green square shaped box. It's like $5 here - price may vary for you. It will heal anything .. even acne!

I just cut my thumb very badly with a food blender. It was bleeding for ages so I took a trip to A&E. They stuck steri strips over it. They get taken off about 5-7 days after. They closed my wound up and it was really deep. Just make sure the cut doesn't get infected cause you may need to get antibiotics. Hope this helps.

First, always be sure you have cleaned the wound out really well with something like peroxide diluted with water. Then if it is not too deep, use super glue. It has worked for me and i have heard the doctors in the clinic where i work say they have done this for their children. But always keep in mind if cut is very deep, do seek medical attention and dont do this if wound is like over a day or so old as you seal in infection.
