I've installed Yahoo! Messenger and have gone through the control panel>internet options>programs>email thing, and I still don't see Yahoo! Mail listed as an option for making it my default email. I even restarted my computer--no success. What do I do now?

It's not enough to install just Messenger; during the installation process, you must also install Yahoo! Browser Services. (Unfortunately, Yahoo!'s help pages don't mention this.)
Go ahead and uninstall Messenger and download it again. This time, on step 2 of the installation choose Custom Install and make sure the box next to Browser Services is checked.
After the installation is complete, you should now be able to select Yahoo! Mail as your default email client.
Note: if this is the only reason you're downloading Yahoo! Messenger and you don't plan on using it, you can delete it via Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs if you wish. Just don't delete Yahoo! Browser Services or Yahoo! Internet Mail.
I am having same problem. If you find out how to fix it let me know. When I try to send e-mail to someone on my messenger list, instead of yahoo it uses my out look express. Thanks!
