Is sex the main reason for marriage in Muslim countries?

In Islam, a man is allowed to marry 4 women max. Is it because a man's sexual drive is greater than a woman's, or because the male population is greater than that of female, or is it for the children i.e. more wives equals more Muslim children thus the expansion of the religion?

Why do other religions reject polygamy?

And, if sex wasn't important, would marriage be of less importance in the Muslim community?

So, are you people saying that if pre-marital sex was allowed in Islam, Muslims would get married anyway because family is important?

Or would marriage be just another option (like in France, where marriage is no longer considered a necessity).

You need at least some knowledge of Religion.
Prophet Suleiman has 900 wives,
Prophet Abraham has three recorded wives.
There are more if you need more I will give more.

Marriage is one of the most important thing for Muslims.
It is one of the thing through which a person can save him/her and society from sin and corruption.

You can easily see %age of sin related with sex in society where out of marriage relation between man and woman are more common.

I will give you detail if I get some time.

Islamic marriage can be 1 hour or 100 years' long. Hypocrisy is irrelevant : what matters is that "muslim honor is safe".

" Shia Islam allows a man and woman to marry for a fixed period of time, ranging from an hour to a century. A man can also have any number of temporary marriages - or sigheh, as they are known.
However, Iranian society still looks down on temporary marriage as a cover for prostitution."

I just did the essay on this.

Polygamy was discouraged in Islam, but it is an exception for many reasons.

The Quran allows men to have up to 4 wives if he is financially able to support all of them and treat them equally.

Even though it’s not practiced as often in Islam nowadays, the western society blames Islam (without being aware of the actual rules and reasons of polygamy in Islam)

Men are not allowed to marry for love after their first marriage. The only reason a man can marry another woman is if she is need of help (such as widows, orphans, etc.).

It is accepted also because of the population, it is a fact that there are more females in this world than there are in males, and during a war, the Germans even petitioned for allowing men to marry more than one! Why is Islam being targeted?

no body says that men sex drive is greater!
every body knows that male/female population is usually 51/49

the simple answer is:-
marriage is the only respectable path for having sex, in all religions and nationalities and cultures .
and the only frame to form a family and children
but with one man made exception, just found in the west after 1945
just look back in yr history before 1945

why these changes in the west, because men went to war, and because lack of men it is allowed to have more than a wife . that lack of men in the west led to women took men s places in farms, factories and raising children, after the ww2 they got legislation's to vote, to work,to be elected, and not 2 marry , to have sex any where any time with any one

all the nations
Chinese more the a 1200 millions,
Indians about 1000 millions
tribes in Africa and Asia 1000 million
all these are not Muslims and not allowing sex before marriage
r u saying that western christian countries (minority) got the right answer just 60 years ago?
and that same minority were wrong all the way back in history ?
sex in Islam is as important as any other religion
u better read about Islam, u r a nation of readers, do not use and follow your ears, read and use your mind.

Shiites are 10 % of the muslims and that temporary marrige is not happening any more in their countries.

Marriage in Muslim countries has long been about family alliances, status, and economics. Actually in most places where polygamy is acceptable, not that many men have more than one wife. Men can only have more than one wife if they are able to support them equally. Few men have the wealth to do so.

In most cultures where polygamy occurs, men say that having more than one wife is a lot of trouble. They often wish they'd never done it because of the rivalry etc. Sometimes having more than one wife is important to women because two working together is easier than one doing all of the chores. Sometimes if a man marries sisters it works out for the women, but then the man is the third one out.

Truly it is mainly about economics - family ties - and property. That isn't to say that sex for the sake of pleasure isn't part of it, but it's not the real purpose of polygamy.

In the U.S., for example, we have a lot of serial monogamy. The difference is that the men don't have to support all of their wives equally. Perhaps we could learn something about fairness and the support of children from other cultures.
