At birth the Hymen is thick and tough but by the time a girl reaches puberty the hymen has become quite elastic (through movement etc). The hymen is part of the outside genitalia and blood is quite able to get through (It doesn't restrict it).

The hymen is the thin membrane that sometimes covers the opening to the vagina. It's not an impenetrable barrier, anyway, as it has holes to allow menstrual blood to escape.
The hymen can do a bit of a disappearing act due to an overzealous workout at the gym, horseback riding, tampons, and even passionate "heavy petting" with a boyfriend.

So now you know as to why some people relate Hyman with virginity and insist on it before marriage.

Becaue the hymen does not completely block the passage of the vaginal opening. It just constricts it. With blood being a liquid, it has not trouble getting through.
