gas tanks on 1999 gmc jimmy?

Question

i have a haynes manual for a 1999 gmc jimmy and i can do most basic car work myself, most of the time without a manual.  after reading the steps to remove a gas tank, it seems relatively straight forward.  its only listing 12 steps, from anyone out there with experience in doing this, is it as easy as it looks, basicially just remove and install, not too much besides that, no magical tricks or little things to know, its just swap out.

I had a 1995 Chevy Tahoe. And I had to replace the Fuel pump, located on top of the gas tank. Its easier if the tank is almost empty, and use a hydrolic jack makes things alot easier. Wear safety glasses. Good luck.

My 94 Chevy had the same problem. Im not sure how, but it was because of the censor that controls the gas gauge. If your gas gauge goes way past full when you fill it up, it might be telling the computer that the motor is flooding. GM fixed the gauge for me for free, and it never happened again. But, the motor on mine was the old Edelbrock style 350. In the 99, Im guessing you have a 4.3 V6. (Not sure exactly) But the entire electronic system should be different. But it is deffinetly worth a look.

apart from putting the car on axel stands, making sure theres not loads of petrol (gasoline) in the tank and useing a torqe wrench when putting it back in you should be fine, just stick with the haynes manual.
