I'm a great driver and my family says that for my age, I drive very well. However for some reason, when I am getting tested on the Driver's Test (behind the wheel, I have my permit) I get very nervous and jittery... the feeling of being tested makes me drive poorly. not horribly, but not as well as i usuall do. Is there a specific dmv in California where the instructors are not as intimidating? i really need to pass because i am a great driver and the area around my school requires a car to get around...

My parents considered me a great driver too! I just passed my driver's test. I had the same feelings that you did when I went to the DMV for the first time and unfortunatly I failed because of being too nervous and turning right on red when it wasn't allowed.
When I went back the second time i felt much more prepared and ready to take it, only a tiny bit nervous. I'm not from California but just be confident in your driving abilities and keep telling yourself that you will get your license while taking your test!
There is (officially anyway) no difference between the various offices of the DMV throughout the state. Of course the smaller the city, the less traffic you will have to put up with.
If you can't pass the test, perhaps you aren't really as great as you and the family think you are, and perhaps you need to have a few more behind the wheel lessons.
well, u need to relax, i just finished the behind the wheel training and next tuesday i will be taking the test. so i know how u feel. just relax and practice driving with someone u normally wouldn't. but someone u know, and not a stranger. u will get used to it and then u'll do great at the driving test. good luck. my fingers are crossed for u. ^_^
