If you are happy with a Realtor (buying) what is the accepted way to show this?
I am buying a house in another state, the relator I was reffered to has really done a great job. I know she will get a commission on the sale, but should I do anything else? I am sure I will refer others to her if the need a good relator, but do I need to do anything else like buy her dinner, etc?

I am sure that she is not expecting anything like that at all. She is a good Realtor, tell her that she did a great job and that you will recomand her service to everybody you know. That is in my opinion the greatest gift we can get from our clients. Why don't you just invite her and her spouse to your house warming party?
A card or thank you note would be most appropriate. A gift certificate or the like enclosed if you really want. Real estate agents often have busy schedules and dinner with a past client might be accepted but keep her from making money. They get paid on commissions only. No sales, no income...
How about a really nice letter of recommendation? Its something she can frame and put in her office or carry in her briefcase. It will remind her what a great job she did and what a great job she should continue to do for other clients.
Dinner is a nice gesture. Thank you nots and letters of recommendation are tangible objects. Its something the agent can show to future clients AND her colleagues!
In fact, your letter may motivate her entire office to work a little harder and more conscientiously!
Thank you for asking your question. I enjoyed taking the time to answer your question. You did a great job - not only for your information, but for every other person interested in reading my answer.
Wow, with people today so quick to complain, it is really nice to hear someone praising a job well done. The best way to say "thank you" is to send her as much business as possible and maybe a nice dinner too. But not too much or she could lose her license, no money gifts. You give me faith in the human nature again, thank you!!
