Search warrant?

What does the law say about the police searching a house with the owner not present?
My room mate has i guess some stolen property, now the cops busted him, hauled him to jail and searched the whole house. Of course they searched my rooms too, even though i have nothing to do with the whole thing. What does the law say about this, can i request a list on what all they took out of the house to see if there was anything that belongs to me? i am away on business and wont be home for another several days. any suggestions?

The search warrant should have specifications on it on what all the police can search. If you are renting a room and the police aren't investigating you, they should not be able to enter your room without your consent. If they did go in your room, and took something, You should have an attorney file a "motion for return of seized things."

That guy below me is wrong. It does have specifications. I've worked in a law office for many years and I've seen many of them thrown out because of several reasons including this exact scenario. Don't listen to someone who just assumes they "know things" He obviously doesn't. They have addresses on them but they also have the defendant's name. You are not the defendant and your space is separate from his. You share the same common areas and they can search that but definitely not your room. Get a lawyer. They'll tell you that.

I hate to break it to ya but you're sh^t out of luck. A search warrant has the address and or apartment.

Law enforcement can search the entire house.
