Have You Read "The War As We Saw It," and what do you think?

This is an op-ed piece which, while published in the New York Times, was written by seven American soldiers who have almost finished serving their 15 months in Iraq. They call the political infighting back in the US, about Iraq, "surreal," and seem to believe that it's time we left Iraq to create stability however they can/must, instead of trying to enforce our own benchmarks or guidelines on them. If you've read the article, what did you think? I'd really like to know.

In the end, we need to recognize that our presence may have released Iraqis from the grip of a tyrant, but that it has also robbed them of their self-respect. They will soon realize that the best way to regain dignity is to call us what we are — an army of occupation — and force our withdrawal.

excellent article by those who know what is going on. It is past time to bring our troops home. Not one more U.S. troop should die in this mess. None of them have lost their lives for this country, our Constitution , and our freedoms. No more lives need to be wasted.

I did see it. Than you for sharing it. It is so tragic tha they are pawns in this war for greed. War s never pretty or nice. but after losing my brother in Iraq I now know the pain of losing someone close for such a terrible lie.

War if ever needed should be necessity. Defensive. Bush lied to all Americans and the world. People die for this. My brother died in vain and 3600 other soldiers have too.

the sensible realize this is a horrible mess. The sensless keep ignoring the truth.

I have the good fortune to say I knew several of the authors of this article. Whatever propagandists are claiming, their response is truly genuine and honest. They only wished to tell the truth and they did so gracefully.

I am ridiculously, totally and completely proud of them.
