What do I say?

I found out yesterday that a friend I used to work with has cancer. It's pretty far along and he's not doing very well. It's been about 2 months since he found out. I feel horrible for not keeping in touch with him better. I talked to him maybe about 2 weeks before he found out. Now I want to call him but I don't know what to say. I don't want him to think the only reason I'm getting in contact with him now is because of the cancer. I just don't know what to do. I care about him very much and it's eating at me that I didn't try harder to keep in touch with him. What would you guys do in this situation?

I'm putting this in P&S cause I don't really know where else to put it.

Were you close with him before? Try telling him that you aren't sure what to say...and that if he wants to talk about his cancer he can talk about it with you...but if he doesn't you can talk about the stuff you used to talk about

Don't let this go too far...you will regret not talking to him out of being uncomfortable if the day comes when you can't talk to him anymore...go call him.
