I just bought a new computer with Vista Home Premium. I can't find a word processing program or spreadsheet

Do they exist in Vista or do I have to purchase one separately? If I have to purchase one, what is the cheapest? Thanks!

Normally Microsoft Operating Systems never come with an embedded Office suite. Howeer you can use Open Office a free office suite. It is also better than most commercial office suites as it is low on system resources and has good functionality.

When I bought one in Japan I had to buy the programs along with it. The Vista Home Premium doesn't come with all the programs you need....

Never in the STANDARD Windows systems has there been anything more than Notepad and Wordpad. Sometimes they'll come with but stand alone Windows does not come with it.

My suggestion for obtaining it is visit your local shop and look around, short of that try Ebay.

There are free "office-type" progs available, "Open Office" is one and it is compatible with MS office. Google it and download for free.
