Has anyone competed at Adult Nationals (figure skating)?

One of my many skating goals is to compete at adult nationals in 2008. What were your experiences? What was the competition like?

Good for you for planning to do Adult Nationals!!! Woo hoo!!

YES! I competed in when it was on "this side" of the US. It was sort of local traveling, so many of us were able to go - it helped greatly to be able to split the expenses!

Going there, I seriously had something BIG to prove to myself so it was very emotional for me (long story). I had a "new" coach, 2 new programs - it was all geared towards "letting go" of skating past and starting anew. Although I didn't make it to final round for either technical or interpretive, I had the 2 skates of my life (at the time). I floated on a cloud for a long time.

The air was different from a "normal" USFSA competition - it was a friendlier competition, not as tense, and there was great support from everyone. There were more audience members than I've ever seen who were actually rooting for us! I had a rather high Nancy Kerrigan back spiral in my program and I got oohs and ahhs for that . . . I had never heard that from an audience before. I was really pumped up from audience reaction - and I think that motivated me to skate well as I did.

It was cool to meet a bunch of adult skaters from across the US and to get closer with our already good skating buds and coaches. There was a party on a boat after all the events were over - and that was a blast. They had a viewing of a video montage from Adult Natls . . . and a piece of my interpretive program actually made it on there - hee hee!!

Best of luck and I hope you will go!
FTR: I enjoy your answers too - wink!

13 isn't too previous to start skating consistent with what you prefer to do. I even have been skating on condition that i replaced into 4 and that i'm 13 suitable now. i will do mixture jumps and mixture spins and you will finally have the means to try this purely at an older age, for sure. you will might desire to paintings quite difficult through fact if no longer you're unlikely to bypass a methods rapid. So once you are trying to skate with human beings around your age i might evaluate inner maximum training so which you would be able to seize up and private training additionally will prepare you issues which will aid you compete. purely undergo in ideas you're in no thank you to previous to start something in case you recognize on your heart you prefer to try this.

I haven't, but I'd like to some day! I know some skaters who have gone, and they all (for the most part) have loved it. I've heard that it's a fun, relaxed atmosphere, and that it's a lot of fun to be around so many other adults who love to skate.
If you go, I'm sure you'll have a good time. :)
