my ipod wont play and it keeps showing a picture of an ipod with a unhappy sad face. i cannot connect to itunes to reset because the computer doesnt even recognize the ipodwhen i plug it in. I've also tried resetting my ipod manually by switching on/off toggle and by pressing center/menu button.

when that happened to my friend it turned out that the battery had completely died. not died like "oh i can plug it in and charge it" but dead as in needs to be replaced. that normally happens after a year or two of having your ipod.

You probably hurt its feelings, give it a hug and a bath and that sad face will disappear like that!

take it to an electronic store if you can buy an ipod you can go ahead and fix it
