Well the 4.0 4.6 and 5.4 motors take 5w30 oil now if the truck has 100,000 or more miles use a heavier oil recommend 10w30 to keep things sealed up. and if its the v8 7 quarts of oil with the filter.

you can go to walmart or an autoparts store a pick up a manual. Chilton's is a good one to buy.
An older truck like yours, usually with high mileage (I'm guessing) in Texas, I would use 10-40. Doesn't get cold enough, long enough for a different grade in summer vs. winter.
