Injured Pigeon?

There is an injured pigeon nearyby (close to my apartments)...he sleeps and hangs out in a certain area. Even though his feet is damaged he is managing to survive. Should I interfere and take care of him? He does'nt eat or drink what I give him and wanted to sleep inside my aparatment but not in my backyard. So I put him back where he was. Should I leave him alone? I feel so bad. But he seems so lonely.

Many wildlife rescue groups will help injured pigeons so find one in your phone book or search online and call them.

It depends on how injured he is. If he's bleeding or has lost a foot completely, it might be a cause for concern. But if the bird's just limping a little or whatever, he might just be fine on his own. Pidgeons are tough; sometimes it's better to just leave him alone. I've even seen pidgeons survive with only one foot; however, if it's serious, you probably should contact someone.
Good luck!

You should not touch or handle him. Call your local wildlife rescue or department of agriculture. Pigeons carry many diseases, some might be zoonotic (transmittable to humans). They can carry salmonella, END (caused by mosquitos) and many other things you'd not want to take home to your pets and surely would not want to catch, either.

Is he banded? Sounds like he may have been a pet. If he is banded, there should be info on the bands as to where he belongs.

He also may be a racing bird...
