He got fired in the episode "Burned" from season 5. He owes a gambling debt to a guy, and when the guy is questioned in an investigation, he tries to pressure Ryan into helping him. Ryan lies to Horatio about it and he's fired. He's reconciled with Horatio, and he's supposed to get back on the team.
