Amati instruments are fine for beginner to middle school and some of their models are fine into high school. Be careful, Amati makes both Boehm (what you probably want) and German (what you probably don't want) clarinets. If this is for school band in the US then a Boehm system clarinet is essential.
Keep in mind that this isn't a brand that every shop can get/has parts for. If it's not dealt locally you may have some challenge at times when it's repair and service time.

Choose a bloody best answer. It's not hard.
It depends on what model and the age of the instrument. They used to be bloody horrible, but during the post-Communist era, improvements have apparently taken place.
I have no experience with these putative new models, so my advice is to ask your instrumental teacher, or a reputable instrument repairer.
