Of course it's sentosa siloso beach resort. The sentosa beach is just a walk away... and you can even go to Vivo City, the largest shopping mall in singapore... it's newly-built... about a year ago.... but it's not in the city area... ( central )
If you are asking about the most prestigious hotels in singapore, they are the fullerton hotel and Goodwood Park Hotel ( 6 stars )
The location of lion city hotel is at Geylang... the actual estate for it. If you're going there now, you can still see bazzars which are very crowded at night.... coz it's the malays' Hari Raya Puasa... they fast for this whole month... Well whatever it is, Geylang is a famous red-light-district... so i wouldn't recommend that to you...
Since Sentosa is a landmark of singapore, i would advice you to stay around that area...

definately Siloso a lot better. Lion City is just a 3 star hotel or even worse. but Lion City is located in the city but not Siloso. Siloso is located in the island = Sentosa which takes u 30 mins shuttle (supposed the resort wil provide 1) to the city shopping area such as Orchard Rd. so, c if u like a busy city life....... or a relax seaside vacation. n the Sentosa Island = hot spot in Singapore which those Singaporean also visit there during their holiday.
or u may also try the other hotels..... here's two that i stayed b4 (in the city), not so expensive, but quite nice service + rooms.

Depending on what you are looking for. Lion city hotel is near the sub-urban estate, and is a 3-star hotel. But you can experience more of our local culture around that area as there are many bazaars and fairs from now till 12 October due to some religious festival. It's going to be interesting to stay there if you are coming before 12 Oct. The subway station is only about 10mins walk away from Lion city hotel. If you are driving, It would take about 20mins to reach town.
If you prefer quiet and relax kind of stay, then Siloso beach resort will be a good choice. It is a resort on an island off Singapore mainland. You can travel in and out of the island by the internal bus, or by monorail, which is transfereable to the main subway system around Singapore mainland. After which, it would take about 15mins drive to reach town. The island itself is a good tourism spot. But not for shopping. you would have to come out to the mainland for shopping. The nearest one being Vivo City, which is reachable via the bus and monorail.

both r good hotels but it still depend what u want. Lion City hotel is located around Geylang area & currently if u r staying there frm now till 12 Oct, it is merrier but congested. its bcoz now is the fasting month & there are BIG bazaar there. whereas if u r staying in siloso beach, its also a nice & beautiful hotel BUT..its very difficult to move around unless u only intend to enjoy sunset & move around the island itself. if u want to experience 'asian spirit', i do suggest u stay in Lion City
