Do you know the answer?

I already know the answer. I just am curious to know everyone else's opinion. Are Filipinos asian or pacific Islander? I'll reveal the answer soon.

Ok the answer is they are Asians. According to many Pacific Islanders associations, the Philippines is not recognized as a Pacific Islander Country. If they are to acknowledge us, they would have to acknowledge Japan as well. I applied for a pacific islander scholarship with the PIA (Pacific Islanders of America) and they denied my application because I am not an Islander. As a Filipino, I am asian.

Unfortunately, many people consider us ASIAN. However, I relate more to my Pacific Islanders brothers though. We are from Malayo-polynesian stock which makes us different from the chinese, koreans, etc. Its just that we happen to be next to the Asian continent. Our history is similar to those of the Pacific islands/Polynesians. Personally, I will never say I am Asian, I will just keep Filipinos in a separate category from them. Anyone have a problem? Oh well, who cares. HAHAHA

They are not Asian-Mexicans. The languages are very similar but not the same. I would say both Pacific and Asian.
