FIRST, turn OFF System Restore.

Right-click My Computer>Select Properties>System Restore Tab>put a Check Mark in the box next to Turn off System Restore on all drives. Reboot.

Now go to this On-line scan and USE it in case your on-board anti-malware arsenal (IF you have one!) is possibly disabled by the mal-ware infestation that you have:

http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

Then UPDATE you anti-malware arsenal (IF you have one!).

If you don't, AFTER your computer is CLEAN by the F-Secure scan get:

Avast AV

http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

UPDATE it after you install it and KEEP it that way!

Spybot Search & Destroy

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

In its Advanced Mode under Tools turn on the Tea-Timer function to protect against more attacks such as you just suffered. But FIRST UPDate it and IMMUNIZE!!! KEEP it that way! While in Advanced Mode you can set it to protect your computer in a MYRIAD of other ways, too. ;)

Ad-Aware se Personal

http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/Ad-Aware/adaware.html

I run SS&D and then A-A to get what little SS&D isn't designed to look for and what it MAY miss. I've only had SS&D miss mal-ware that A-A had to get a small handfull of times in the last TEN years or so! Again, UPdate it and KEEP it that way!

You can check out CCleaner here:

http://www.ccleaner.com/

I've not used it...YET, but have heard nothing but good things about it.

Getting Firefox is a GREAT suggestion!!! I agree with it 200%!!!

After all that Installing and cleaning you will need to set ScanDisk to run, Re-boot and allow it to run. Reboot again, only this time in Safe Mode (Disconnected from the net altogether) and run Defrag. Then Reboot again, normally, and turn System Restore back on.

If you have any questions about this you may e-mail me through my profile here. I'll get back to you ASAP.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

You have some sort of malware (spyware or adware).

Have you tried to do a Sytsem Restore? In Windows XP, go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tool, and select System Restore. Click on the radio button for "Restore my computer to an earlier time". A calendar will pop up. Click on the most recent date on the calendar that was before this problem started and then select a restore point from the list on the right.

After you've done this, and even if it works or even if no restore points are available, you should still use any spyware and anti-virus tools that you get your hands on.

But, first you need to
1) Un-install IE
2) Download and install Mozilla Firefox

Using Firefox as your browser, download Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SUPER AntiSpyware, and Spyware Blaster. They are all free and you can get them from www.download.com, www.pcworld.com, or www.tucows.com. Download them ONLY - don't install them right away. Boot to safe mode and install and run them from there.

Also, using Firefox, download AVG Free and Avast free edition. Install and run them in safe mode, but it's probably best to install one of them, run it, then un-install it, before proceeding with the other one.

Once you've done all this, re-boot into normal mode, and run everything again (get any anti-virus and spyaware updates while you're in normal mode).

Then, run Windows Update or Microsoft Update, but don't accept the update for IE7 just yet.

Run Windows Defender.

Download and install WinPatrol Free. It prevents hijackings (un-authorized changes to your IE settings).

Now if you really, really want to use IE, download and install IE6. BUT - FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, please don't use IE, USE FIREFOX. Just keep IE as a back up or for the rare site (like Microsoft) that doesn't support Firefox.

While "The action is too busy" [Switch program] [Retry] is kind of a generic error caused by bad programming or resource distribution, you are most likely infected with some form of malicious software such as spyware, malware, or adware.

I recommend Lavasoft.de 's Adaware, which can be downloaded on CNET at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/single/mirror_download.php?f=66h82We1r

Firefox is less malware-friendly, and can be customized with extensions and themes. If you're not incredibly attached to IE I would highly recommend using it. However, you will still need to use Internet Explorer for certain websites including Windows updates that are not "High Priority" such as new Direct X, .NET framework, or Windows Media Player versions (not patches, generally)

Its called Spyware and ADware....

Do all the following to clean it all up.

*Download, install and the get the updates for the following, but DO NOT RUN A SCAN YET:

Adware
http://www.download.com/3001-8022_4-10731194.html

SuperAntispyware
http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

*Then, DISCONNECT from the internet. I mean UNPLUG

*Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options and delete all browsing history (cookies, temporary internet files etc). Check the box, Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons.

*Make sure your folder settings allow you to see the ALL your folders, Go
to My Computer>Folder Options>View. CHeck all the show files boxes and UNCHECK all the Hide boxes. Click apply and ok.

*Go to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings \temp
Delete all files. (for each user)

*Delete all in recycle bin

*Next, boot up in safe mode (Tap the F8 key every few seconds as the system boots up until the screen Saying Safe Mode option appears).

*Now run the above spyware programs.

I would also download and install Firefox, its less vulnerable than IE.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
(Then configure it for pop-ups and other things, like Clearing everything when you exit. tools>options>privacy tab to clear everything)
