But when I check I have nothing there? This has been going on for about a month now. All help is greatly appreciated.
Nothing goes into my bulk folder, and everything else I do not recognize goes directly into spam.
I delete mail after i have read from friends and family. I do not keep anything in my email box, everything has been deleted.

Yep. Yahoo Mail updates give unreliable readings of Mail Notifiers every where. Mine
stay steady. My friends keep on adding up. Lots of others no reading at all.
Corrective action on your part = Nothing. Corrective action on Yahoo Mail = Completion
of all Updates of NEW MAIL on ALL Servers.

Are you very sure?.I might have to ask you how many read mail you have .This is because the unread mail could be far behind your read mail.How does this happen?.I have the answer here.All emails ,POP or wemail use date configurations.The evil guys are able to advance or back date emails.So when the email reaches you , it will be organised by the date factor.Does this information look chilly?.
I was convinced when I found email dated like 2001?...I had previously read all email before and after this date.

they keep showing u the total no. of emails unread like u get some noobish emails u delete them without reading. YAHOO will show those emails too as new
it has happened to me thrice.
JUST GO TO TRASH,SENT,DRAFT AND SPAM FOLDER AND DELETE THEM FOREVER
