What is a good idea for a thanksgiving theme bullentin board for one-year olds?

I intern a a daycare with about 12 one-year olds and my assignment is to come up with a bulletin board and lesson plan and I want to do something for thanksgiving, but I have no ideas

Do the turkeys with "handprint" feathers. Or a "thankful tree" with the leaves made from the kid's handprints cut out of construction paper. Or once I did a board with a huge turkey in the middle holding a sign that said"Eat more seafood" and little fish at he bottom.

I love the ideas the others gave for the foot prints and hand prints. Since it would be hard to trace their feet and hands, have them put their hands and feet in some finger paints (non toxic of course), and all of the step on a huge mural paper and place their hands on it, and you have yourself a 1 year old mural! You can draw little turkey faces on them. Just simple ones, and then put their names by the print. Hang the mural up on the wall for all of them to see their creation. It may not look much to the adult eye, but the kids will sure enjoy it!
As far as a bulletin board, keep it simple with drawings since they won't recognize words yet at their age. :-)
Have fun. This is truly a hard assignment for you because one year olds haven't developed the skills yet to understand most of what goes on around them. So what you are asked to do is a great challenge and I hope you pass. :-)

One to two year old children are becoming increasingly more mobile, and aware of themselves and their surroundings. Their desire to explore new objects and people is also increasing...

All you need to do is put up a colorful Harvest/late fall display.
Use familiar objects of sun, fruits--LOTS OF SHAPES AND DESIGN to catch the child's eye. Incorporating stripes, zigzags, dots into the shapes would be good thing...

This also could be a lesson for the parents picking up their child--where the title of the board may be something like...
"We're One Year Old and Becoming More Aware of our Surroundings!" Happy Thanksgiving!!!

As far as the play--keep doing what you've been doing...

Read and look at age-appropriate books, scribble, play music, stack blocks and put objects into larger objects...these toddlers aren't old enough to be doing most of the activities described above. They're only one year old!

If your supervisor wants a November theme to go with the play... there are many theme books to read to toddlers. Also find plastic fruit and foods that the children will be able to transfer and handle. Relax and have fun observing them!

One year olds don't know or care anything about Thanksgiving. They are about as interested in it, and as capable of understanding it, as they are nuclear physics. Keep the administration happy by putting up pictures of fruits and vegetables and singing a turkey song to them, then let them explore lots of plastic fruits and vegetables. But don't delude yourself that you are actually teaching them anything about a meaningless concept. And please avoid the "baby as tool" art projects suggested elsewhere. They are demeaning and disrespectful to the babies.
