I use Ebay a lot and have had very few problems.
Look at the seller's feedback rating - if it's good then they are unlikely to mess around.
Pay by Paypal if at all possible
and do not accept offers to buy from people without going through all the Ebay procedure.
There is cheap junk on there but the same goes for local shops really.
Make sure you read all of the listing and not just the title.

It widespread use suggests it is trustworthy. The company has ways to let the eBay community rate those that sell on it and makes transparent sellers' past activity. So you can make a judgment. But as with any market, always exercise common sense before parting with your money.

ebay only provides a site so sellers and buyers can meet and conduct business.
All sales are between the seller and the buyer.
As with all things, check out the sellers record on file and see how many buyers have had a problem with the seller.
good luck

I shop on ebay quite abit. It's best to look at someones ratings i.e. if they're a power seller, etc. If they have a good rating then it's not likely rthey screw you over. If they do you can just get onto ebay about it, they may offer to refund whatever you've paid for.
