Is Yahoo having glitches again?
I have tried to give thumbs up on best answers to folks and it doesn't show as a new point on their page...
Do we still get credit for thumbs up?
I am trying to give points to others...
I was clear on my question...

Thanks Aspen for asking this. I personally was not aware of the change until you pointed it out and you are absolutely correct, the points aren't showing up even though the official point chart still shows that it should.

Based on your other answers and some research, it does indeed appear that the Yahoo Gestapo has made another change without any announcement or official explanation.
This biggest dissappointment will be that any given user will now be unaware if they receive a thumbs up on a resolved best answer. This is dissapointing because many times when leaving a thumbs up, participants will also often leave a comment. Since neither the thumbs up OR the comment create any sort of alert you will never know. This site is supposed to thrive on networking and a database of answers, yet this change again takes away from that. All for the sake of combating "point gaming"? Um, the last I checked the points really don't mean anything anyway...
*sigh*

No, dear Aspen !...
One is now allowed to give 'Thumbs Up's, only BEFORE an Answer is chosen by the Asker, or Voted, as the 'Best Answer'. When an Answer is chosen as the 'Best', it will receive 10 Points plus as many points as the 'Thumbs Up's it has received...
Any 'Thumbs Up's given after a BA has been chosen do not credit extra Points - either to the Giver, or the Receiver...
The only problem is that Y!A has made this change, without any announcement - which is why there has been all this confusion !...

This feature has since been modified on Yahoo! Answers
Answers that are voted best answer will continue to gain ten points and the initial points representative to the number of thumbs up the answer gained.
However as of two weeks ago, once a question is resolved, thumbs up will no longer continue to add an extra point to the author of the best answer.
This feature was removed due to complaints in the suggestion forum and continued abuse of the feature and point gaming.
All the best
