WPA without a doubt...

WEP can be cracked in minutes.

Make sure you use a very good password though, no dictionary words. Use capital letters, lower case letters and signs/symbols.

Also, make sure you change the default username and password for your router too...

If someone wanted to hack into your wireless and they saw you have WPA enabled, 99.9% of the time they would not even bother trying.

What do you mean the IP addresses didn't work? Can you access the router settings?

You should open your browser (Firefox or Internet explorer) and type "192.168.0.1" in the search field, without the "".
It might ask you for a username and password -- look in your router instructions for the default user and pass, it might just be blank.
Once in the router settings, go to your wireless settings and chose WPA-PSK as the encryption mode. Chose a password as stated above, it needs to be very secure.

All of this should be in the instructions.
