I would say that means he likes you, especially if other close friends didn't receive a gift. Take it lightly, and if you like him too, take a step forward. If you're scared, or unsure, talk to him about it. He might be for it, or deny it, and if he does, then he's not ready, he just wants you to know that he cares.

That is probably a sign he has feelings for you. But don't take my word for it because i dont know him. What I would do is try to see if he treats you differently than his other girl friends. Or if you feel bold, ask him if it means anything.
