They are selling that date for $29.50 raw from one dealer and $3450 from another. Most of the W uncirculated Eagles are MS-69 anyway. The early release or first issue is a gimmick and coin collectors have complained about it. Several states have sued NGC and they are in court in Florida about it. The mint stock piles coins and does not send them out in any order so it is impossible to know what ones were struck first or early. In 2006 the mint started selling uncirculated Eagles on there own that had a special finish and the W mint mark. The ones they sell in bulk to bullion dealers have no mint mark like the years past. The mint figured out they could add another item to sell if they kept down the mintage and made the Eagle something special. They this time guessed right for the 2006-W is now selling for $129.50. Only your high volume what I call iffy dealers, seem to have the eagles in slabs in fact one has an MS-70 2008 Eagle 1st day of issue for $49. I do see an add for yours. Being the second year of issue for that series, that is the W mint mark and finish it would be worth holding onto. To bad you didn't buy the first year. Slabbed bullion coins except for the proof gold is a waist of money. I guess slabbed proof silver eagles is okay only to protect them. There are a lot of pit falls in coin collecting so be aware.
