Top contributor bias?

Does anyone else feel as if the "top contributer" tags are biasing especially the asker twoard picking that answer? I have seen several questions where theres 3-4 of the correct answer then the "top contributer" answer and the "top contrubuter" gets picked as best. Anyone else seeing this? or have asked a question and deliberately did this?

Actually, it does seem to work both ways as mentioned above. I've seen people specifically state that they will NOT select a TC as Best Answer, so that the other folks can gain some points for a change. Other times, it is the TC that will get it. This may simply be because in addition to the CORRECT answer, they have given an extra bit of information that is useful in the long run, if not specifically asked for. For example, while a simple answer of '250' is correct for how many points to reach level 2, adding the link to the points page plus some small explanation of how things work is a nice 'plus' for a newbie to receive -- and may push them to choose a TC as a result.

So many of the top contributers have very high best answers it seems odd and a bit suspicious. I totally agree with you.

I've seen that a number of times. Especially when there are a number of the same answers, but it's not the FIRST responder with that answer chosen -- it's the "top contributor".

i noticed that to. i am not sure what a top contributer is but i have to agree that they are no better at answering than the next person.
