Depression: different kinds of music?
I have noticed that alot of questions have been answered that say to surround yourself with happy music or good uplifting stories. For me listening to music that is generally happy and uplifting makes me feel out of place and somewhat fake. When I listen to bands like twiztid and three days grace I can relate to the lyrics and it makes me feel less alone in the way I can feel sometimes.
I can see how if someone wanted to change the way they think and not focus on the bad things as much, that listening to things like that could be a bad influence while making them feel better at that time. Good for short term but bad for long term.
I guess what I am asking is that does surrounding yourself with music and things that relate to how you feel usually make it worse in the long run or does that depend on the person?
