Does the Mac Mail app download emails to your computer automatically?
I am on an exchange server, and I actually don't want it to download emails, I just want to be able to view them. When I configured the Mail program, it looked like it was synchronizing and copying all the emails from the server to my computer. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

It depends how you have Mail.app setup. If you have it setup to access the Exchange server via POP3, then yes, it will download messages from the Exchange server, unless you configure it to leave a copy on the server.
If you have configured Mail.app setup to access the Exchange server via IMAPv4, then no, it will not download the messages from the server. During the initial synchronization, it will download the message headers and then the bodies of the messages and store a local cached copy of the messages on your Mac, but it will not remove messages from the Exchange server unless you mark the message or messages for deletion and then issue an expunge command.
I believe it does. You should be able to stop that in your Preferences. Also, Microsoft Office for Mac comes with Exchange, and you can always use Thunderbird as an alternative.
