Easy Off in my self-cleaning oven?

Hi all,
The self-cleaning feature of my oven does not work anymore.

Is there any reason I can't use Easy Off, according to the directions on the can, on my oven?

Easy Off, smells horrible and is toxic. It always seems to leave some residue behind which to me is not safe for cooking. Our business is cleaning, a little trick same as the microwave boil water in the microwave and then clean to get off all the goo. Same thing somewhat for the oven. Put a pot of water in let it boil and scrape it off, use a plastic scraper so you don`t scrath the interior of your oven, if you need to break up some of those grease stains after you get the majority of drippings off , just some dishsoap and hot water, and let it sit for a few minutes. Then wipe again. Might not be the fastest method, but I believe the safest.

I use Easy Off fume free and it works fine ...no problems. In fact it states on the can that it is safe for self cleaning ovens

Good Luck!

Once you use easy off in an oven you can never use the self cleaning feature again because the high temps the self cleaning can cause the previously used easy off to burst into flames. So if the self cleaning feature will never work again.......................

You should just do it the old fashioned way...by hand. Self cleaning just makes the whole house smell like burnt crap anyways.
