Is it just me or are some people on this site a little too sensitive?
I got an e-mail today notifying me that I had violated Y!A guidelines. I answered a question yesterday where nearly every single word was spelled wrong with "When did they stop teaching spelling in school?" and was reported for insulting the questioner. If people are going to post silly questions here and then spell every word wrong (even 4 and 5 letter words) even though English is clearly their first language, then aren't they asking for someone to make a comment on it? Was my response really that offensive or are people getting a little too touchy?

I think spelling isn't that big a deal with regards to chat rooms, forums, etc. That being said a person who is communicating with others usually shows respect by framing a question/comment so that the receiver of the communication can easily understand the message.
I think people who get worked up over spelling are a little sensitive also. Is spelling such a big deal? I agree that proper grammar is great but this is Yahoo Answers not a 10th grade english class. English may not be the users first language or they may be very young.
Give people a break they are asking questions not asking an English teacher to check their spelling.
Yeah, some people are too sensitive. Some people need to know when to just let it go, too. We aren't singling them out or being especially crude to them.
it was offensive but i think the person didnt like it because it hurt them...its rather insulting..but i certainly think that is true...SPELL CHEK..i intentionally spell some words wrong tho
people here, mainly christians and republicans, are WAY to sensitive. Or, im not so sure they are sensitive, so much as they cant stand people questioning their almighty viewpoints.
